Pro riders and visitors will be able to have a go during the free, family-friendly event this Saturday and Sunday (June 14 and 15) featuring stunt demonstrations by professional riders including BMX pros Gary Spencer and Callum Rafferty along with scooter rider Tom Nieb.

Attractions include tricks, thrills, stunts, food stalls, fun fair rides and inflatable games. There will be have-a-go activities for visitors aged nine and over plus sessions on mobile ramps and a track, including for skateboarding, BMX, drift trikes and KMX karts.

The show from 10am to 4pm both days will be hosted by radio personality and compere Dicky Dodd.

Wolverhampton Council’s city development boss Councillor Chris Burden says: “We’re excited to welcome the Extreme Wheels Weekender to Wolverhampton this weekend. It promises to be a great day out for all the family, giving people the chance to experience a sport that is on the rise, and watch exciting stunts and tricks in a safe environment.

“You will even be able to have a go yourselves by taking part on the mobile skate park and racing around a track on drift trikes and KMX karts.

"It’s great that we are able to continue to put on free, family-friendly events like this in the city and I strongly encourage everyone to come along and watch the action.”

Participants can bring their own BMX bikes, scooters, skateboards and helmets. To take part simply register on arrival.

Please note that due to safety rules, helmets and appropriate footwear - not Crocs or sandals - must be worn for all activities and bikes or e-scooters are not permitted. Once capacity has been reached, there will be a time limit on activities.

The council is working in partnership with Extreme Wheels Roadshow to bring the Extreme Wheels Weekender to the city. The project is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Visitors are advised that pro riders are subject to change and while entry to the event is free, there is an additional charge for funfair rides and refreshments.

Last September the council hosted a similar event when the extreme sports FISE Experience competition was held in The Square, attracting support from residents and fans.
