Russell, the only artist ever to be number one in the classical charts in the US and the UK at the same time, will perform songs from True Stories together with a selection of greatest hits from his illustrious career.

The star is grateful for his career, having survived two brain tumours. He admits he's highly driven and likes to work hard. "You don't get from a factory floor in Salford to singing for the Pope at the Vatican without being a driven lunatic.

"I feel great. I'm in the best place that I've been in my life. I have great people around me who are incredibly supportive – Louise, my family, the kids.

"I'm feeling positive that I'm still around, whether it's 50, 40, 30 or 60 – I'm just glad I'm here! I don't want to be defined by my age and people seem obsessed with it."
