Vintage music, burlesque and circus festival heading to Birmingham

Produced by the team behind Shambala Festival and curated by Birmingham's own Electric Swing Circus, Swingamajig is coming to Digbeth on April 30.

Music, dance, cabaret, walkabout, art installations, street food, performance and more feature at the one day urban festival that opens at 2.00pm and has an after party that follows until the early morning.

Various performing troupes will appear at Swingamajig showcasing circus tricks, magic, dance and burlesque with the likes of Miss Betsy Rose, Missy Malone, Joe Black, The Death Do Us Part Danger Show, The Flaming Feathers, Steamship Circus and more.

A variety of music including DJs, electro swing, bassline, gypsy punk, swing, jazz and rockabilly will feature at the event from the likes of The Correspondents, Smokey Joe and the Kid, Electic Swing Circus, The Freestylers, Hallouminati, Lola Lamour, Cockney Nutjob and more to be announced.

New to 2017 is the Swingamajig Bazaar, a vintage/craft market with street food, as well as a load of free activities, games, dance workshops, developing a quirky and alternative family friendly space.

The bazaar will take place in the street as well as inside both Spotlight and Mama Roux and will be accessible to all – you don't need to buy a ticket for Swingamajig to come and enjoy the festivities.

The market opens at 11.00am and runs until 6.00pm.

2017 will also see the first ever Swingamajig Official Afterparty, a continuation of the day's festivities.

On April 29, the day before the festival, Swingamajig are running a series of swing dance and aerial circus skills workshops suitable for all abilities.
