Agnes Obel set for Birmingham Town Hall show
Global artist Agnes Obel has a rare ability to connect with a broad audience across many boundaries.

She was discovered on MySpace and her 2010 debut album, Philharmonics, was certified five-times platinum in her native Denmark, platinum in Belgium and France and gold in Holland.
She won five major awards at the 2011 Danish Music Awards: Album, Pop Release, Debut Album, Female Artist and Songwriter of the Year. And she will bring her ethereal music to Birmingham Town Hall on Tuesday for a headline gig.
The singer/songwriter is supporting her new album, Citizen Of Glass, which was released in October. It's a very honest record.
She said: "Everything about our lives these days seems to be about revealing the private self, the self in every little detail."
The title came when Obel read a piece of journalism about the term glserner brger, meaning the glass human or citizen in German, describing the level of privacy an individual has in a state or a country.
"And I thought that's such a good term in so many other ways. I sort of feel like that about my work very much."
