Welsh National Opera will continue their journey into musical theatre, following on from last year's success Sweeney Todd.

The stage is set in 1940s Baltimore.

Hippodrome spokeswoman Kate Evans said: "Full of wit, dance, show business and hit songs including Another Op'nin, Another Show, Brush Up Your Shakespeare and Always True to You in My Fashion, Kiss Me, Kate will leave any Tom, Dick or Harry grinning from ear to ear."

Meanwhile, Jamaica's king of comedy Oliver Samuels will return to Birmingham when he stars in Guilt Trip on Sunday at the city's New Alexandra Theatre.

Venue spokeswoman Fiona McCartney said: "The legendary actor and renowned comedian is once again giving us an evening of sheer laughter.

"Guilt Trip is a comedy drama which examines the life of a woman who out of fear did something many years ago which continuously haunts her and impacts on the lives of all those associated with her."
