Video and gallery: New Lemur trail at Bobbington Wild Zoological Park
With their big eyes and bushy tails, these new furry friends are proving popular at a zoo.
The Wild Zoological Park at Halfpenny Green Vineyards, Bobbington, has welcomed its newest attraction – the Land of the Lemurs.
Lemurs originate from Madagascar and their popularity grew with the 2005 film of that same name.
Zack Hollinshead, zoo director, said: "The lemurs are on display but it's going to be a walk-through enclosure. Later this week the walk-through will be opened when they're settled in. They're quite laid back but they're certainly not pets at all.
"There's going to be a 'lemurs live' talk where we will be telling people about them.
"Madagascar is one of the most threatened islands in the world and the majority of lemur species carry a critically endangered status, so the whole exhibit educates people about the plight of the lemurs.
"We've got eight ring-tailed lemurs. They're all under two years old and wereborn at Lakeland Wildlife Oasis in Lake District. A mixture of both males and females, we're hoping they might breed."
