London Midland, which supports the festival, invited the musician to a naming ceremony at Euston station where violinist Joo Yeon Sir and The Malachites theatre company also took place.
The train, one of London Midland's newest, will be called Lichfield Festival for the rest of its working life.
Lichfield Festival director, Jennifer Mears, said: "It is unusual for an arts organisation to have a train named after it." The Lichfield festival takes place from July 1 to 10 and includes music, film, theatre, comedy, dance, family events and visual arts performances.
