Mother-of-four Megan Reece, 28, will be going head to head with Deano as part of Team Paloma in tonight's Battles round. The pair will face off with a rendition of Macy Gray's 'I Try'.

The former Heath Park High School pupil, said: "I don't have a competitive personality, so going into Battles is a very new experience I'm just trying to get into that competitive mentality."

Megan's appearance comes after Brooklynne Richards from Smethwick made it through to the next round of the competition. The 24-year-old, from Marshall Street, first wowed the judges back in January with her version of Soloman Burke's Cry To Me, a song from her favourite film Dirty Dancing which she admitted seeing more than 100 times.

But on Saturday, she progressed through to the battle rounds, overcoming fellow contestant Tom Milner, singing Tears Dry On Their Own, by Amy Winehouse, Judge Will.i.am said Brooklynne reminded him of Hip Hop singer and rapper Lauren Hill.

Bingo caller Brooklynne, a former pupil at Holly Lodge School, said: "It's just so exciting, I never would have expected this in a million years.

"Everyone keeps telling me I was going to smash it, but when Ricky called my name I was like 'oh my god.'

"He has been very supportive and always makes me feel at ease and comfortable.

"My family are still going mad, they're more excited than me.

"I never thought I'd be doing anything like this, it's crazy.

"The experience has been the best, and no matter how far I get, I can truly say I've lived the dream. The Voice is the biggest thing I've done.

"I've just got to keep trying my best and will be hoping to go through again."

Brooklynne first began taken singing seriously at 16 and has followed in her family's musical footsteps. The second stage of the battle rounds continues on BBC One tonight from 7.30pm.
