It's Friday afternoon, what's on your mind?

Mainly on my mind on a Friday, if I'm working, I'll be thinking what time is the matinee tomorrow and where shall I eat tonight.

Who normally has the pleasure of your company at the weekends?

At the weekends I normally catch up with my family. I have a niece and a baby nephew so I try to see them as much as I can especially as I'm away a lot on tour. Also I see friends. I have a lot of friends who aren't actors and have regular jobs, so weekends are the best time to see them.

How do you prepare for a big night out?

I will put on some good music, have a couple of drinks before I go out and make sure I eat something. I have a terrible habit of skipping dinner and going out on an empty stomach, which can only lead to disaster.

What's your favourite party outfit?

Just a smart fitted shirt and a nice pair of jeans and shoes.

You've just arrived at the bar, what's your first drink?

A large glass of dry white wine.

What is your favourite night spot and why?

I tend to go for places with live music, jazz bars or places with a piano player in the background, you can't beat live music.

It's a sunny Saturday, what are you up to?

Catching up on work and domestic stuff, I have a guilty pleasure – I like going to garden centers and buying plants for the garden!

What's your most memorable weekend?

Erm…not long ago I surprised my partner with a horse riding trip through Epping Forest and then a country hotel. Thankfully the weather was hot and sunny and the horses behaved.

What's your recipe for the perfect night in?

Friends over for dinner, good wine and a good laugh.

Favourite DVD and what would you eat while watching it?

Oh I don't know, I don't really watch many films and if I do I never remember the name of them.

But I would eat my own homemade smoked mackerel pate.

Sunday breakfast: cooked or continental?

I don't eat breakfast. My mum will kill me if she sees this!

Sunday lunch: home cooked or down the pub?

Home cooked, roast beef and all the trimmings.

Where and how do you like to relax?

I like to relax at home. I spend so much time away on tour that it's really nice just to be in your own place and with your own things and not hotels and strangers' houses.

You have the whole weekend off and a wad of cash. Which country or city would you head to?

I'd either spend it in London, my home city, in the summer you can't get any better. I love history and London is jam-packed with it. I'd have a lovely lunch on the river, some drinks, do some tourist things. I've never been to Westminster Abbey, so I would go in there, go somewhere nice for dinner and then go and see a show.
