They can hardly wait to take to the stage. Hometown heroes The Lines return to Wolverhampton tomorrow to headline the city's Wulfrun Hall.
The gig will cap an amazing year for the band, who have played a string of summer festivals, supported their mates Ocean Colour Scene and wowed talent spotters in America.
Drummer Dave 'Paddy' O'Connor said: "2011 has been really great fun – and we can't wait to cap it all by playing a gig in our hometown.
"We've played the Wulfrun before – although when we've released a single or something else to promote. This time we're playing because people want us to – there's no other reason.
"We've been away for a year and a lot of people have asked us if we'll play Wolverhampton – we can't wait to get started."
The Lines formed in Wolverhampton and feature lead guitarist Dean Bate, singer Alex Ohm and bassist Danny Pease.
They formed in 2006 when lifetime schoolfriends Dean and Alex decided to start writing songs.
Their debut single was released in 2008 and the band also performed an acoustic version of the track at half time at Wolverhampton Wanderers, during the match with Stoke City.
Paddy said: "It'll be very nerve wracking before we get to the stage. But as soon as we're on there, we'll hear the roar of the crowd and it will become simple and easy. The gig will fly past. Bascially, we wanted to say thank you to everyone who's helped us in the past and supported us."
The band started to make inroads in North America and hope to return in 2012.
Paddy added: "We flew over to North America in spring, in March, to play nine gigs in five days.
"We played in Canada and then did the South By South West Festival, in Texas. It went really, really well. We got a song picked up for use in a computer game and a lot of interest from record labels."
Now the band want to finish on a high by playing a sell-out gig in Wolverhampton.
Paddy said: "We're on tour at the moment with Ocean Colour Scene, as support, and then we've got this headline slot in the middle – we can't wait to get on the stage and start playing for our friends, mates and fans."
