There's a strange aroma drifting across the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre this week, as the musical stage adaptation of the ever popular children's story, Mr Stink wafts into town.
From the pen of Little Britain comedian David Walliams, there's a definite Roald Dhal feel to it and the show is accompanied by a "Sniff and Scratch" booklets so that audiences can experience everything from the smell of a sweet shop to Mr Stink's smelly socks. And it's not just for the kids - mums and dads you can join in too!
Unhappy Chloe is befriended by the local tramp, Mr Stink, but is he all he seems?
The modern plot tackles real life issues facing youngsters, including family stress, bullying at school, homelessness and sibling rivalry, but still maintains a wonderfully positive, entertaining atmosphere which young people can relate to.
The under ten's will delight in the toilet humour and there are laughs a plenty for the adults too.
Peter Edbrook gives a loveable performance in the title role and it is evident he had studied the plight of the homeless in detail before taking the part.
Lottie Gilmore, as Chloe, perfectly captures the innocence of a twelve year old, but it is Irvine Iqbal who steals the show, playing a variety of hilarious characters, but primarily, Raj the local shopkeeper from whom Chloe regularly seeks advice.
Mr Stink is guaranteed to bridge the gap between young and old via a fun, family, feel-good show. Simply delightful.
Runs until Saturday. Tickets cost £9.50-£20.50 – call 01902 429212 or visit www.grandtheatre.info
