Despite declaring 2007's Twilight Of The Innocents would be their last album and promising to release only singles, Northern Irish trio Ash have dodged their own rule and released a greatest hits collection.

Taken from all their studio releases and the A-Z singles project – two albums consisting of 13 songs each, starting with a different letter of the alphabet – The Best Of Ash contains indie-rock favourites such as Shining Light, Girl from Mars and Oh Yeah. And their supporting tour – which stops at Birmingham's HMV Institute on Thursday, October 20, 2011 – will consist of much the same.

"Obviously all the core singles that people expect to hear will be in there and then we'll mix in some of the new A-Z songs, and I guess a selection of albums tracks from all the years," says bassist Mark Hamilton.
