The Joy Formidable

HMV Institute, Birmingham

Concert review by Gary Sanders

Imagine Muse playing at full tilt in your local social club and it gives you some idea of the experience generated by the incredible force that is The Joy Formidable, at Birmingham's HMV Institute last night.

With some stellar tracks from their debut album, The Big Roar, this dynamic Welsh trio who only formed in 2007, produced some mighty big performances none more so than the epic single and show opener 'A Heavy Abacus'.

These young upstarts ROCK! Songs that just build and build into climatic crescendos delivered with an exuberance only these hungry youths can provide.
