There's been a lot of hype surrounding British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran and his recently released debut album '+'.
So much in fact that it has already gone platinum despite only being released a few weeks ago.
Everyone from Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe to chart star Example has been raving about the 20-year-old red-haired singer who is known for mixing up his acoustic act with the odd rap.
But having endured his gig at Birmingham's HMV Institute last night, it's hard to see why. There's no doubt Ed has a lovely voice. And it's always refreshing to see a star emerge without the help of reality TV shows.
However, the show left me bored with a capital B.
Ploughing through album tracks such as Lego House, The City and Give Me Love, I couldn't help but think he'd be better placed providing background music in a nice bar or cafe. But last night's crowd clearly did not think so as they sang along to every track and held up their phones for a rendition of his single The A Team.
There's nothing wrong with Ed as such, he has a nice voice and can play the guitar, but for me there was something missing – I think they call it the X factor.
