O2 Academy, Birmingham
Concert review by Elizabeth Joyce
Heirs to the throne Nero and Sub Focus may be snapping at their heels, but Chase & Status remain the undisputed kings of the drum and bass world.
And they proved their dubstep dominance with a scorching, sweat-dripping gig at Birmingham's O2 Academy last night.
Pint glasses were flung through the air and thousands of feet lifted from the floor as the London duo fired through tracks from albums More Than This and No More Idols.
From opener No Problem, complete with voodoo images on the big screen, the songs were fired out like red-hot bullets.
Chase & Status's success - and the reason they work with the likes of Tinie Tempah, White Lies and Dizzee Rascal – is simple, they just make damn good songs.
From the heaviness of Fire In Your Eyes to the atmospheric Time, featuring support act Delilah, their tracks are varied, emotive and of the highest quality.
But Will and Saul's finest moments often come when they collaborate with a certain Mr Ben Drew, aka Plan B.
Pieces, Fool Yourself and the epic End Credits were all performed and marked particular highlights in an all round awesome gig.
