Smoothie-loving teenage-metal pop, punk band Lexicomane say they are the ones to watch with their unique sound and Katie Perry influences.

The six-piece formed nearly two years ago and have played in a number of venues across the region.

With an enthusiasm for music and a name that many people find hard to pronounce they hope to stay firmly in the minds of their audiences.

The group pride themselves on high impact and full on performances and say they are already gathering a following of fans.

Lexicomane is vocalist, or screamist, 17-year-old James Runham, lead guitarist Jordan Wright aged 18, 17-year-old bassist Alex Vaughan, 18- year old Lewis Cocker on rhythm guitar, 13 year old-drummer Zack Fellows and Lee Griffiths, 17, on screams.

James Runham said: "We have been gigging for around nine months and are a mix of pop punk and metalcore.

"We don't conform to generic metalcore standards and we play what suits us and we want to be unique."

The band is influenced by groups including A Day To Remember, Bring Me The Horizon, Parkway Drive, Four Years Strong and Blink 182.

James added: "We are all massively influenced by Katie Perry and use too much hairspray. We also like smoothies."

The group has performed at the O2 Academy in Birmingham, The Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton and The Fern and Fallow in Cannock.

James said: "When we played at the O2 Academy for the first time we were all so excited because all of our favourite bands have played in the same building.

"It didn't matter if we weren't playing on the same stage as the bands we saw, just the feeling of being in the same place as they were felt like our dreams had come true."

Lexicomane, which means lover of dictionaries, have already recorded an EP and recently completed their second one.

James said: "We hope at some point to get noticed and record a full length album, support biggish bands we like, increase our fan base get more people to our gigs, and get known out there."

In Telford another teenage band to keep an eye out for is The Making. The band formed in 2008 and say they are going from strength to strength after playing a number of gigs across the region.

They have already recorded four songs at Robannas Studio in Birmingham which has resulted in their first ever airplay of Sinking Ships on a local radio station.

They can create a wide range of sounds from indie/pop song to folk and are set to play a charity gig later this month for Macmillan. The band's web address is www.myspace.com/themakingmindie
