It has been the 1990s boy band revival year – but for East 17 it was a rather more low key return to the Midlands.
Take That have enjoyed sell out stadium tours including more than 48,000 fanatical fans at Villa Park earlier this summer.
But for their fellow boy band it was a case of performing in front of just a few hundred loyal followers at the O2 Academy in Birmingham last night.
In a room which was just over half full East 17 treated their fans to a selection of some of their best known songs.
Now minus Brian Harvey who has been replaced by Blair Dreelan the likes of House of Love, Steam and Around the World were belted out.
This was much to the delight of the partisan crowd who despite not being large in number lapped it up.
At their peak East 17 achieved 18 top 20 singles and four top 10 albums becoming one of the most famous acts during the early to mid 1990s.
But while the Take That comeback has caught the public imagination it appears not to have been the case for their counterparts.
