Concert review: Bruno Mars at Birmingham O2 Academy

Bruno Mars,
O2 Academy
Bruno Mars is one Jack of all musical trades. The rising star brought his pop, soul-funk, Motown, reggae and RnB sounds to Birmingham in a show that was high-energy from start to finish.
The charasmatic 25-year-old singer/songwriter brought his Doo Waps & Hooligans tour to the city's O2 Academy ahead of this weekend's V Festival where he will also be performing.
And from the the moment the Hawaiian star and his all-male band bounded onto stage they held the crowd like putty in their hands. The star – who was wearing his trademark Fedora – kicked off with the up-tempo The Other Side, before showing off his reggae style with Billionaire and his Motown/soul sounding Runaway.
He had the crowd singing along to his chart toppper The Lazy Song, before delivering his reggae-rap style Liquor Store Blues. His Grenade hit went down a storm, before ending his energetic set with the sweet, yet slushy, ballad Just The Way You Are.
