Up-and-coming Wolverhampton band The Rimes will play a gig on home turf this weekend when they take to the stage at the city's Slade Rooms venue in Broad Street.

According to their publicity, The Rimes are "a band of the future with the sounds of yesteryear" who combine tones of 60s garage with elements of 70s rock guitar.

The band themselves – made up of Jamie Nicholls, Ryan Cornforth, Michael Cooper and Ross Johnson – describe their own infectious sound as "indie rock 'n' roll".

They've been winning over critics left, right and centre with Simon Hill from BRMB Radio describing them as "the most effortlessly, exciting band I've seen in years" while Mel Flavell of Ryan's Gig Guide added: "Their combined aptitude would make many of the current big names blush with inferiority."

Doors open from 7.30pm and entry is £5. Tickets are still available but only in limited numbers – to book, visit www.wolvescivic.co.uk

Following tomorrow night's gig the band will head to Bournemouth for a gig on August 11 and play the free Moreton Stanley Park Festival in Redditch on August 20.
