A summer show based on the Wind in the Willows is being staged in Stafford.

Members of Stafford Gatehouse's summer school are busy rehearsing for The Adventures of Mr Toad.

The musical is being staged at the theatre from August 17-20.

There will be performances at 7.30pm each day and matinees at 2.30pm on the Thursday and Saturday.

The summer youth theatre is for youngsters aged seven to 18 who live in the borough or attend a local school.

Members of the cast will be visiting Stafford Castle on Sunday for a classic car show to promote the musical.

The show is being directed by Elizabeth Rose with musical direction from Michael Cotton. More than 100 young people are taking part in the summer school which began on August 1.

In addition to producing the show the youngsters are also taking part in workshops covering all aspects of theatrical productions.

Derrick Gask, the summer school producer, said: "There is a real energy in the theatre during summer school as we see hundreds of young people being given the opportunity to explore their creative side
