FLIP International Animation Festival returning to Wolverhampton

FLIP International Animation Festival will return to Wolverhampton's Light House Media Centre in October and organisers are inviting animators from all around the world to submit films of up to 15 minutes in length.

Light House will play host to the annual celebration of all things animation; in education, in industry and in everyday life at the frditval, which runs from Thursday, October 27, to Saturday October 29, 2011.

For this year's festival there is an open door policy on accepting animations from young people, and regional, national and international participants. There will be awards for Best in Festival, Best UK Film, Best International Film, Best Stop Motion and Best Newcomer (under 18).

The closing date for submissions is August 31, 2011. Submission guidelines and forms can be downloaded from www.flipfestival.co.uk

The festival provides a wide range of experiences from educational workshops for young people to experimental animation for grown ups; from industry led panels to feature film screenings and from international showcases and retrospectives of short films to spotlights on animation studios.

Light House has been faced with funding challenges due to the changing landscape of the Screen Agencies and the UK Film Council. However, the team has successfully sourced funds to continue with the further growth of FLIP's regional, national and international reputation in its eighth year.
