Wolverhampton Civic Hall

The night didn't get off to a great start for the crowds waiting for rock superstars Kasabian at a sold-out Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

They were forced to endure support act Penguins, an entirely forgettable duo who squawked awkwardly through a bland setlist and got an enthusiastic round of applause – from themselves.

But then Kasabian, after a slightly too-long gap of 40 minutes, took to the stage and all was well. Kicking off with first album favourite Club Foot was a great move as the crowd immediately switched into full-on bouncing euphoria.

The beer was flowing – and more often than not, flying – as the group took the audience through old favourites like Cutt Off, Shoot The Runner and LSF (Lost Souls Forever), to the anthemic Empire, with a smattering of the more recent material such as Vlad the Impaler and Underdog.

Fans were also treated to a preview of songs from the fourth album. Finishing with Fire, the whole spectacle just went to demonstrate why Kasabian have the whole music world at their feet right now.
