Enrique Inglesias brought a little sunshine and his Latin rhythms to a grey weekend as he delighted 12,500 Midland fans.

It was distinctly more about the man than the music however as the Spanish heart-throb, looking younger than his 35 years, wowed his army of female fans.

More than a decade since his hit-producing Escape album, Inglesias has developed into a seasoned performer very capable of working his audience.

It wasn't subtle — 'Bir-min-ham, do you wanna get dirty?', he yelled at the end of the opener Tonight (I'm Loving You) - but the LG crowd went wild.

His rapport with his audience was enhanced by a 30ft runway which cut out into the crowd, and where this didn't take him, he leapt down amongst them anyway.

There was a lovely interlude when the singer got a couple of eight-year-old friends up onto the stage with him to chat and sing.

Do Yo Know? came amongst a stream of Top 10 hits and the arena was in full singalong mode. The encore brought, of course, Enriques' biggest hits Hero and Escape.
