Scores of music fans today told of their disappointment after missing out on tickets for this year's V Festival, despite queuing for up to nine hours.

More than 700 people waited overnight ahead of Midland Box Office in Wolverhampton opening at 9am yesterday.

Aldersley High School sixth former Mica Tomlinson, from Fordhouses, queued with two friends from 3am until midday.

The box office in Queen Square sold its allocation for the event at Weston Park on August 20-21 by 12.30pm.

Mica, aged 18, said: "When we got there there were only 40 or 50 people in front of us but the stewards moved the queue and loads of people pushed in.

"I was the next person to be served when staff said weekend camping tickets had sold out."

Penkridge teenager Amy Anstiss, 16, missed out on camping tickets despite arriving with her friend Emma Sherret, 17, at 4am.

Her outraged mother Catherine said: "They were at the front of the queue but people pushed in."

Civic Halls spokeswoman Crissie Rushton said today: "Our stewards had to move the queue following some complaints from businesses.

"We're sorry to hear that people tried to push in and were not stopped, however, we have received no other complaints of this nature."
