JLS at Birmingham's LG Arena - concert review

About 15,000 people in the West Midlands will be waking up without a voice today - and it's got nothing to do with a flu epidemic.

Screaming reached fever pitch last night as the boys from JLS took to the stage of Birmingham's LG Arena for the first time in 2011.

Arriving in style — they were lowered from the ceiling in an open top car — the fab four treated fans to a performance of Outta This World, That's My Girl and a few unusual covers such as Rihanna's Rude Boy, Umbrella and a medley of Backstreet Boys and N*Sync songs.

It was an extra special night for Beth Parkes, aged 15, a pupil at West Bromwich's Phoenix Collegiate Academy, who cares for her mother, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. Beth, from Walsall Road met the band backstage, after the meeting was set up by the MS Society.

She said: "It was a dream come true."
