Madness Birmingham show is house of fun

Concert review: Madness's Suggs may have recorded a silent song to prevent the X Factor dominating the Christmas charts - but there was nothing quiet about the show-stopping frenzy the iconic band whipped up at Birmingham's O2 Academy.
From One Step Beyond's opening line of Hey You, Don't Watch That, Watch This to the foghorn blast of the closing Night Boat to Cairo, Madness delivered a fantastic journey through more than three decades of timeless sounds.
"Tonight is the X Factor final," shouted sharp-suited Suggs, which was met by a chorus of boos from a full-to-capacity Academy.
"And we are Madness," roared the 49-year-old singer.
The frontman is part of an anti-X Factor 'supergroup' which has recorded the sound of silence in protest at the reality show. And the army of Madness fans roarded along with the band as they piled through their pop and ska classics.
The crowd - many wearing Fez hats - sang along, danced along and jumped along as the Nutty Boys delivered a fantastic performance from start to finish.
