Thousands of tickets for next year's V Festival were today put on sale at this year's prices to save fans' money ahead of January's VAT rise.

Festival bosses have released 10,000 tickets for next year's musical extravaganza, which is held at Weston Park, near Wolverhampton.

The limited tickets have been put on sale at 2010 prices before VAT increases from 17.5 per cent to 20 per cent.

Tickets went on sale at midday and will remain up for grabs for 24 hours.

Fans who miss out on today's offer will have to wait until tickets go on general sale on March 4.

More than 80,000 fans are expected to snap up tickets for next year's event, which will take place on August 20 and 21.

A weekend camping ticket was today £165. It will increase to £168.51 once the rises come into force.
