X Factor reject Demi Cullen today said she would never forget the moment she was comforted on stage by judge Cheryl Cole.
The emotional scenes have become an internet hit after being broadcast on the ITV show.
Demi, aged 17, from Walsall, became upset when her hopes of stardom ended as her performance of a Whitney Houston classic was described as "just not good enough".
But in a rare moment of compassion from the X Factor panel, all four judges, including Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Danny Minogue praised the student's bubbly personality.
And Girls Aloud star Cheryl then ran on to the stage to offer her a hug.
Speaking on GMTV this morning, Demi said: "Cheryl was really lovely to me and told me she liked me and she would have put me through."
Demi has now become an internet hit on Facebook and YouTube.
She has also been asked if she would be available to switch on this year's Christmas lights in Walsall.
