It's a big night for guitar lovers this Friday, July 17, as The Derek Trucks band rolls into town at Birmingham's O2 Acadamy.
Not exactly a household name, Trucks first attracted the attention of the music industry as a nine-year-old child prodigy on the guitar.
By the age of 12 he was sitting in with blues legend Buddy Guy and toured with the Allman Brothers Band for a decade before joining as an official band member in 1999.
He formed his own band aged 15 and is acknowledged as one of the world's most accomplished slide guitar players.
Those among you who were lucky enough to see Eric Clapton at the NIA two years ago couldn't forget his sideman on that tour – a 28 year-old Derek Trucks who Clapton was more than happy to share a large chunk of the action with – praise indeed!
The gig in Birmingham is one of only three UK dates, the others being Glasgow and Newcastle.
