This was almost a case of No-Go Patrol due to technical hitches during the opening numbers of the group's show.

Thankfully, frontman Gary Lightbody has enough stage presence to keep the massed ranks going during the problems.

The Ulsterman promised to deliver - and last night he duly did.

It is sad that the band's biggest hit has come from a cover, namely Leona Lewis's version of "Run".

However, they say the originals are always the best and Lightbody's acoustic rendition here, coupled with "Chasing Cars" were so haunting that they sent chills down my spine.

Miriam Kaufmann complemented Lightbody well on Set The Fire to The Third Bar.

The concert didn't seem to flow as well it could have done, but there was no questioning the quality of musicianship on offer.

Hits like Chocolate and Take Back the City all followed before an encore that kicked off with a video kaleidoscope backdrop for Lightning Strike.

You're All That I Have had the whole place rocking as it ended the set.
