Hugh CornwellFormer Stranglers legend Hugh Cornwell brings his band to the Robin 2 in Bilston next month.

The guitarist and singer, who left the legendary band 19 years ago to go solo, calls at the Robin 2 on Friday, March 13, as part of a 27-date UK tour.

Tickets are £15 in advance and £17 on the door.

Cornwell will be joined by bassist Caroline Campbell and drummer Chris Bell, who performed on his latest album Hooverdam, and fans will be treated to a live performance of the whole album.

The singer said: "I can't wait to get Hooverdam on the road now, it's been a long time coming, and it will be the first time I have ever played an album in its entirety. There'll be some old faves to follow it, of course!"

Fans have no excuse not to be familiar with Hooverdam's 10 songs, as the album is available to download for free as high quality DRM-free MP3s from www.hooverdamdownload.com.

The album is also available to buy as a digipak which features Hooverdam plus the DVD of Blueprint, a feature-length film that revolves around a live performance of the whole Hooverdam album, recorded at the legendary Toe Rag Studios where the album was made and interspersed with interview footage from writer and broadcaster Robert Elms. The album is also available on vinyl.

As the original singer, guitarist and main songwriter with The Stranglers, Cornwell enjoyed massive UK and European success in the 17 year period that he was in the band, with ten hit albums and twenty-one top 40 singles, including Peaches, No More Heroes and Golden Brown.

Cornwell announced he was leaving The Stranglers in the summer of 1990. He has released seven solo albums, including Wolf, Footprints in the Desert and Dirty Dozen, as well as three collaborations with other artists.

Cornwell's book, The Stranglers: Song by Song, was published in November 2001 by Sanctuary Publishing.

In October 2004 Cornwell's autobiography A Multitude of Sins was published by Harper Collins.
