That's the price being demanded on the internet today as the touts get busy and Doctor Who fans scrabble for a chance to see their hero David Tennant in Shakespeare's most famous role.

But the Royal Shakespeare Company warned today that anyone turning up with a ticket bought privately could be refused admission.

Virtually every ticket was snapped up weeks ago.

Hamlet opened at the Courtyard Theatre in Stratford with previews this week and runs until November.

Today's internet advert, from a buyer in London, is for a pair of tickets for a performance in October.

The seller says he cannot make it "as I have a pre-booked holiday on that date."

According to eBay, one ticket buyer in Dudley has already sold his pair of £30 tickets for next Wednesday's performance for £315.

l Peter Rhodes will review Hamlet next week.
