For festival lovers who'd rather avoid the mud, the mileage and the mess of the larger, more established festivals, Shrewsbury's putting on its very first one-day event packed with cutting-edge bands and serious indie talent.

The Indieco Sunday Social is the first event of its kind, and will see an impressive roll-call of top indie acts descend on Shrewsbury's Quarry Park on July 13 for a day of frolics and festivities.

New Young Pony Club, the Mystery Jets and the Holloways, among many more, will be filling the park with cutting-edge sounds from 12 noon until 9.30pm, promptly followed by an afterparty at The Buttermarket with live DJ sets from the Mystery Jets.

"We saw there was an area of music that was under-represented," explains Indieco Director Andrea Proffitt.

"We'll provide everything you would expect from a festival within the full day programme, without the drama of camping in muddy fields!

"This is the very first time Shrewsbury has played host to a cutting-edge event like this, and we hope it marks the first of many.

"The Quarry is a beautiful outdoor venue and we are extremely excited about bringing these artists to Shropshire."
