Tickets to see the stars of this summer's Cannock Chase forest concerts are being snapped up in the best week for sales since they were released.
Legendary rockers Status Quo will be performing in the heart of the beauty spot, along with The Zutons and indie band The Charlatans. Around 700 tickets were snapped up this week, meaning nearly all of the 4,500 tickets for Quo on Friday, June 27, have gone, with around 1,000 remaining for The Zutons on June 28 and about 1,500 left for The Charlatans on the Sunday.
Status Quo will be supported by special guest Rick Parfitt Junior. The Zutons' special guest will be Fionn Regan and support from Noah and The Whale, whilst The Charlatans will be supported by Glasvegas.
Alistair Semple, the Forestry Commission's planning forester, said: "There are still tickets left for all three concerts.
"This last week has seen the highest sales since this year's tickets were released.
"With two weeks left, we expect Status Quo to sell out and possibly The Zutons. The Charlatans are lagging slightly behind but it should still be a great atmosphere with around 3,000 tickets sold for that gig already.
"And we are hopeful the fast-selling trend will continue after a steady start."
The concerts raise valuable cash to plough back into local woodlands to pay for a variety of environmental and social projects and are a vital part of Forestry Commission's drive to attract more people into Britain's forests and to help protect England's woodland.
All profits from the concerts are put back into local projects and in recent years, these have included habitat creation for endangered butterflies; health projects to encourage the young and old to get out and about in the natural environment and installing woodfuel heating systems to help contribute towards the fight against climate change.
Tickets are priced at £30 per person for Status Quo and £26 per person for The Zutons and The Charlatans. Tickets are available on-line or from the ticket office at the Birches Valley Visitor Centre on Cannock Chase.
