They were pop's original odd couple and together Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke were Yazoo, an electro duo who enjoyed huge but shortlived success in the 80s.

In 1982 they joined forces and went on to give us some of the decade's greatest pop songs, including Only You and Don't Go. But success was brief as the duo went their separate ways after just 18 months.

They have reformed for a one-off tour called Reconnected which is at Wolverhampton Civic tomorrow night – at £45 a ticket.

"It's shocking to think we're back after only being together for 18 months," says Alison, now 46. "But it's unfinished business."

In the 80s Yazoo had only 24 concerts worldwide. They split up in 1983 on the eve of the release of their second album You and Me Both.

"But we never got to play the second album live and that's something I've always wanted to do," said Alison.

Each found success, Vince with Erasure and Alison as a solo performer, with such hits as All Cried Out and Love Resurrection.

"I've always wanted this to happen it was just a case of when. Vince is obviously tied to Erasure with Andy Bell, but they agreed to have a break which meant we could go on tour," she says.

"I went to school with Vince's former bandmates from Depeche Mode – Vince went to a different school.

"When we got together in Yazoo it was a working relationship. We didn't have a friendship as such. It was very much a musical partnership." So does the reunion mean they will record new tracks together?

"Us getting back together is a one off, but if we feel inspired when we are on the road maybe we'll write something. But we're certainly not going to bring a single out just for the sake of it."

Civic spokesman Jonn Penney said tickets are available on 0870 320 7000.
