More than 40 members of the No Men Aloud harmony group will be taking to the stage for their first ever solo gig when they take to the stage in Brewood tomorrow night.

The choir was formed more than two years ago but have only took part in shows performing alongside other choirs since then. They have also performed in a number of village festivals and community events including Brewood Music Festival.

But on Friday they will get their own chance to shine when they perform a show titled 'Summertime Gladness' at the village's Jubilee Hall which will be packed to the rafters with more than 200 tickets sold.

The group comprises residents of the village and surrounding areas and sings a wide variety of songs from genres including pop, rock, Motown and much more, with no auditions and no need to read music. Even a little bit of One Direction is thrown in to the mix.

Their performance will be on familiar surroundings as they practice at the Jubilee Hall every Monday between 8pm and 9.30pm.

Lucy Parker, 27, who is the musical director of the choir, told the Express & Star everyone was excited to be part of it.

"It's going to be a great show and everyone is looking forward to it," she said.

"We've been in other shows before but we felt the time had come to do our own show.

"The ladies are brilliant to work with and they all work so hard. Being part of the group is lovely - we all get on and have a laugh at the same time."

And the choir are proving popular already with tickets to the show sold out.

Lucy added: "To have tickets sold out already is a fantastic boost for us. When the idea first came about we didn't think anyone would want to come.

"The ladies have worked really hard to sell tickets and to have so many people coming will just make the show even better."

The show starts at 7.30pm.
