College students share happiness at open day
It's one of the best selling songs of all time, with 12 million copies snapped up across the world.
And now Walsall College students have adopted Pharrell Williams' 'Happy' as the soundtrack of a video to inspire prospective students.
People across the globe have filmed their own videos to the catchy tune. And now teenagers in Walsall have got on board the band wagon with their own version to encourage new people to sign up.
The video features departments across the college and was filmed and edited by media students. It showcases the college's facilities, from the Academy hair salon and health club to the construction centre.
The amusing footage opens with a female student strutting into the college grounds to the beat, before capturing scores of others miming the words. Some got into the groove as they worked out in the gym, trained in the construction and painting and decorating centres, while a group of aspiring dancers performed a special routine in their studio.
It will be played throughout the open day, which is taking place this Saturday from 10am to 2pm at both campuses.
Walsall College's principal and chief executive Jatinder Sharma said: "Walsall College continues to put our students on the right pathway for success through our exceptional facilities and outstanding vocational training which ensure they are work ready and equipped with the skills they need in their chosen industry.
"Students are at the heart of everything we do at the college, so we are delighted that satisfaction levels are so high.
"The open day is an excellent opportunity to welcome members of the community to have a look around our state-of-the-art facilities and talk to our outstanding tutors about courses. All inquiries are welcome, from school leavers to people looking to change their career direction."
Visitors will be able to speak to tutors and take a tour of the facilities at the college which was rated outstanding by Ofsted.
Prospective students can also chat to current students to find out why they love studying at the college and take part in a variety of activities including building LEGO-based robots, flambéing piping cakes and tiling and hanging wallpaper, to really get a taste of the skills they could learn on a vocational course.
Courses are available in a variety of areas, including care, hospitality, tourism and leisure, business and management, engineering, construction, creative arts and hair and beauty.
A range of qualifications are available including full-time, part-time, professional, higher education, apprenticeships and traineeships.
