The star will perform with a choir made up of 7,000 children from schools across the Black Country and Birmingham as part of a national tour, with a total of 120,000 youngsters joining in across the country.

Miss Spraggan, who appeared on the 2012 series of the show after blowing the judges away with her 'folk-hop' song Beer Fear, said she is excited about the prospect.

She said: "It is nothing like anything I've done before.

"I have wanted to get involved with something like this for a while, ever since I performed with another choir at a show at the Albert Hall.

The annual event began 17 years ago and former acts taking part include Alexandra Burke and Stacey Solomon.

The tour will start on January 12, 2015 in Birmingham at the LG Arena for five nights before moving on to the Sheffield Motorpoint, London 02 and ending at the Manchester Phones4U Arena in March.

"Performing at such a huge venue as well as all the work we do beforehand is such a fantastic boost for the kids," she said. "Their families will come along and support them on the night and it is just fantastic for their confidence.

"It is different to what I usually do, but performing with a choir at the Albert Hall was such an experience and you would be amazed at just how fantastic it sounds when you hear it all put together. It is a really unique, amazing sound."

Young Voices managing director Ben Lewis said: "These choirs are the largest children's choirs in the country.

"They are an opportunity for young people to experience live music on a large scale. We are trying to instil a love of music into the children that take part very early on. It is a fantastic opportunity for them.

"Young Voices is really designed for music teachers to get their kids involved in live music on a huge scale. If you're a music teacher, you'll want to be able to go into class and engage with those kids and being able to offer them a sell out show at the a major arena with amazing artists, it doesn't get better than that".
