An apprentice with Dudley Council will be sharing his experiences on Twitter this week.
As part of National Apprenticeship Week, Adam Naylor, aged 19, will be updating followers on the social networking site with anecdotes of his life working at the council's housing repairs management team.
Also this week, three other apprentices with the authority will appear in a short YouTube film about their work.
The clip features Georgina Bock, aged 18, and Grant Porter, aged 19, who are both doing business administration apprenticeships in different departments of the council.
Also featured is 21-year-old Simon Darby, who is training as a carpenter and who has been nominated by his employer as national apprentice of the year.
The apprentices earn a wage while working alongside members of staff and follow a structured training schedule with a training provider or college.
Councillor Liz Walker, cabinet member for children's services, said: "Apprenticeships are a great way for young people to gain job-specific skills in their chosen industry and gain nationally recognised qualifications."
Adam can be followed on Twitter at @Adtheapprentice and the YouTube film can be accessed on www.dudley.gov.uk
