The Wolverhampton-based EDM Group, one of the UK's largest providers of information management services, has appointed Iain Ferguson as non-executive chairman.

Mr Ferguson has a proven track record of executing growth strategies for fast growing businesses and brings a wealth of knowledge to the role, including a wide range of international experience from a number of digital, data, communications and content companies.

He served as executive vice president and member of the executive committee at Havas and, as chief executive, at Mission Marketing Group, where he led the initial public offering and transformation of the business from a £5 million turnover privately-owned company to a £95 million turnover, high-margin, national group.

Mr Ferguson will play an instrumental role in helping EDM deliver further growth by identifying and executing acquisition opportunities for the group, which is backed by leading private equity provider LDC.

Following on from the group's £52m merger with Sala International last year, LDC invested in EDM in September 2011 and has since supported the Group in driving its ambitious, organic and acquisitive growth strategy.

He joins the board to work alongside chief executive, Sam Ferguson, group chief finance officer, Mark Jones and group chief operations officer, Tomas Gronager.

Sam Ferguson said: "Appointing a non-executive chairman of Iain's calibre emphasises both the board and investors' determination to grow the company.

"His first-rate business experience puts EDM in an even stronger position to help shape the next stage of the company's growth as we drive forward our vision to deliver information management solutions that help our clients to operate more efficiently."

Alex Clark, investment director at LDC added: "EDM is a business which offers very exciting opportunities for future growth and Iain's appointment further strengthens the existing board of directors.

"In particular, his relevant management experience will add real value and support to EDM's team as we look to achieve growth objectives and drive the business forward."

Iain Ferguson commented: "I am delighted to be joining EDM. All organisations are facing the reality of paper and electronic information overload and also increasing compliance requirements.

"The challenge of how to get the right information to where it's needed, quickly, securely and cost-effectively, in the form that it can be used, is a growing concern for senior management. EDM is perfectly placed to answer these needs."
