A £5 million plant which will recycle used nappies was opening in West Bromwich today.
The Knowaste site in Kelvin Way is the first facility of its kind in the UK and has created 17 jobs.
Hundreds of thousands of tons of used nappies will be processed to prevent them going to landfill.
The site is the first of five planned for across the UK over the next four years.
It uses state-of-the-art recycling technology to recover highly valuable plastic and fibre which can then be used for making new products, such as roof tiles or plastic components and fibre-based construction and commercial tubes.
