A family-owned Black Country haulage firm, Aspray Transport, is recruiting 50 new staff and predicting 20 per cent growth for this year as it places a major order for 26 new DAF trucks.

And in a double boost for the Black Country, it has placed the order, worth around £500,000, through another Willenhall-based business, truck dealers Greenhous.

Aspray is also preparing to order a further 25 vehicles through Greenhous later this year.

Aspray managing director Stuart Laight said: "While we hold a national account with DAF, we put all of our orders through Greenhous as we believe it's important to support local companies."

Robert Binnion, retail truck sales manager for Greenhous Commercial in Willenhall, said: "We very much value our partnership with Aspray Transport and have benefited from their commitment to supporting the economy on home turf."

The investment in new trucks is just part of a plan for major growth at Aspray.

Mr Laight said: "The next two years are set to be particularly busy – in addition to 20 per cent growth in 2010 and taking on new recruits, we are predicting that the company will double in size within the next two years."

Based in Noose Lane, Aspray currently employs 460 people, and will be looking to recruit a further 50 staff by the end of this month.
