Person died on West Midlands railway line over weekend

A person died on a West Midlands railway line over the weekend, police and ambulance confirm.

Emergency services were called to Barnt Green Railway Station in Worcestershire shortly after 8pm on Saturday January 24 to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

A person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. 

The incident was not treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to an incident on the railway line near to Barnt Green Railway Station at 8.12pm on Saturday. 

"On arrival we discovered one patient. Sadly it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save them and they were confirmed dead at the scene."

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "We were called shortly after 8pm on Saturday 24 January following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Officers attended along with paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene." 

Barnt Green railway station is linked to Birmingham via the Cross-City Line on the West Midlands Railway network.
