Two lanes are closed on the M6 northbound following a crash near Wednesbury.

West Midlands Roads (WMRoads) have confirmed that two of the four lanes are closed on the M6 northbound between junction eight (M5 link) and junction nine (Wednesbury, A461).

The incident, which involved a car and a lorry, has caused long delays in the area which are now being cleared.

WMRoads say that delays of 20 minutes are currently expected, with more traffic set to head towards the area as the afternoon goes on.

The incident is also causing delays on the M5 northbound near junction one at West Bromwich to the M6.

Road users are advised to plan their journeys in advance and anticipate delays. Drivers should look to take alternate routes where possible.

West Midlands Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.
