Man dies and woman hospitalised in 'serious condition' following Birmingham crash between car and pedestrians
One man has died and a woman has been taken to hospital in a serious condition following a road traffic collision involving a car and two pedestrians.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 11.17am on Tuesday, December 16 to Soho Road in Birmingham and sent three ambulances, two paramedic officers and the WMAS Critical Care Car to the scene.
A man in his 50s died at the scene, while a woman in her 40s is in hospital being treated for serious injuries.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “On arrival, crews found a man, a pedestrian, in a critical condition and immediately began administering advanced life support. Sadly, despite best efforts, nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“A woman, also a pedestrian, was treated for serious injuries before being conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital under emergency driving conditions.”
A West Midlands Police spokesperson: "The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, and we are continuing our work to locate him.
"The vehicle involved was a Vauxhall Corsa and has been recovered near the scene.
"We would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw what happened or has any dash cam or mobile phone footage.
"The road is expected to remain closed for some time as our investigation continues. We would ask motorists to please continue avoiding the area.
"Anyone with any information is asked to call us on 101, quoting incident number 1819 of 16 December."
