It's been the year of the great big manager cull.

But amid 56 sackings across the top four divisions (a record figure), Wolves' Kenny Jackett and Albion's Tony Pulis have once again survived, writes Tim Spiers.

Jackett is the 17th-longest serving manager (or in his case, head coach) in the English game.

And Pulis (also head coach) is already up to 32nd in the list of 92 Premier League and Football League clubs, despite only moving to the Hawthorns last year.

The granite-like duo are also in the top 10 for most games managed in English football.

Pulis is third, with 990, behind only Arsene Wenger and Danny Wilson.

During his 24-year career Pulis, aged 58, has also managed Bourmouth, Gillingham, Bristol City, Stoke City (twice), Plymouth Argyle and Crystal Palace.

Jackett sits eighth in the list having taken charge of 678 matches, with exactly 150 of those coming with Wolves.

Before joining Wolves in 2013 the 54-year-old had managed only three other clubs - Watford, Swansea City and Millwall - with his hot-seat career now spanning 20 years.

Jackett is three places behind former Wolves boss Mick McCarthy, now in charge at Ipswich Town.

In total there were a mammoth 70 managerial changes this season, with 56 sackings and 14 resignations.

Of those 56 sackings 18 were in the Championship, meaning Jackett is one of just six bosses in the second tier to avoid being given his marching orders.

The total sacking figure across all four leagues is nine higher than last season.

According to the League Managers' Association, which published the figures today, the average tenure of the 11 bosses sacked in the Premier League is two years, but in the Championship this figure drops to just over a year, while in League One it is under a year.

Jackett and Pulis have both come under fire at times in recent months but the pair are strongly fancied to still be in their jobs come the start of 201617.

If they're still at Molineux and the Hawthorns at the end of the season, expect them to shoot up the below list.
