West Brom turned on the style as Brown Ideye scored two more goals to help them reach their first FA Cup quarter-final since 2008.

Ideye struck either side of half-time and James Morrison and Saido Berahino were also on target in a comprehensive victory.

Ideye now has four goals in his last three games having almost left The Hawthorns on transfer deadline day.

Morrison's strike was a fabulous, long-range effort while Berahino's goal took his increasing tally for the season to 16.

And the Hammers' miserable afternoon was completed when former Albion loanee Morgan Amalfitano was sent off for a hand in the face of Chris Brunt just 10 minutes after stepping off the substitutes' bench.

There were big appeals early on from Albion's players for a penalty when the ball reared up in the penalty area and struck Kevin Nolan on the arm.

But referee Martin Atkinson waved away the call with replays showing awarding a spot-kick would have been harsh.

On nine minutes Brunt galloped forwards on the overlap for the Baggies and crossed from the left for Craig Gardner, who sent a first-time shot with his left foot fizzing wide of the target.

The Hammers' early sights of goal came from free-kicks when Brunt and Morrison were penalised for fouls on the edge of the area, but both Aaron Cresswell and Enner Valencia missed the target.

It was the Baggies who led on 20 minutes through Ideye.

He steamed into the area and stayed just onside to turn home a cross from Craig Dawson, who had enjoyed the benefit of a kind ricochet on his way into the area on the overlap.

Brown Ideye of West Bromwich Albion celebrates after scoring a goal to make it 3-0.

Goals: Ideye (20, 57), Morrison (42), Berahino (72).

West Brom (4-4-2): Foster, Dawson, McAuley, Lescott, Brunt, Gardner (Gamboa 90), Morrison, Yacob, Sessegnon (McManaman 78); Ideye (Baird 87), Berahino.

Substitutes not used: Myhill (GK), Wisdom, Olsson, Pocognoli.

West Ham (4-3-1-2): Adrian; Jenkinson, Kouyate, Tomkins, Cresswell, Nolan (Amalfitano 60), Song (O'Brien 68), Noble; Downing, Sakho (Cole 68), Valencia.

Substitutes not used: Jaaskelainen (GK), Demel, Henry, Lee.

Referee: Martin Atkinson (West Yorkshire)[/breakout]

The Baggies might have doubled their lead moments later when Gardner cut in from the let and teed up Morrison, whose powerful drive from 20 yards was turned over by Adrian.

Ideye then called for a penalty when he hit the ground in a tangle with Nolan but the officials again turned down the claim.

The game went through a flat period but Gardner brought it to life seven minutes from half-time when he let fly from 30 yards with a stinging drive that thudded back off the crossbar.

And two minutes before the break Albion led 2-0.

Morrison stepped away from a tame challenge by Noble then let from 25 yards with a brilliant right-footed strike that bent away from a helpless Adrian.

Early in the second half West Ham had a chance through Alex Song but his tame shot was claimed comfortably by Ben Foster.

But the Baggies were 3-0 up on 57 minutes when Ideye struck again, heading home from Stephane Sessegnon after the Benin international had kept alive an over-hit centre from Brunt.

The Hammers almost grabbed a lifeline with 25 minutes remaining when a left-wing cross was headed goalwards by Diafra Sakho, but Ben Foster's right hand took the sting out of it and Gareth McAuley cleared off the line.

The Hammers hopes were ended on 70 minutes with Amalfitano's red card.

The Frenchman was in the process of being booked for a challenge on Brunt when he pushed the Baggies man in the face in front of referee Atkinson and received his marching orders.

And Berahino then rubbed salt into the wound when he netted Albion's fourth from a tight angle after good link-up play involving Ideye, Sessegnon and Gardner.

Ideye could have completed his hat-trick when he tried to turn home a Callum McManaman cross at the near post but defender Cresswell got there first and Adrian turned it away.

And late on substitute McManaman grazed the outside of the post with a long-range effort.
