Florent Cuvelier: Saddlers will stick to their style

Walsall star Florent Cuvelier insists the Saddlers will stick to their principles as they try to prevent any more League One gifts.

It was the third time this season that Walsall have squandered a two-goal cushion but Belgium Under-21s playmaker Cuvelier insists they can cut out the giveaways and start to replicate their first-half form after the break without compromising the free-flowing football that has excited fans already this season.

"We don't need to change the way we play because it works," said Cuvelier.

"We are a good team and we score goals, but for some reason when the second half starts we can't seem to repeat the first half at the moment.

"So we need to find out why that happens, but we don't need to change anything.

"We don't need to change the passing game that we've got because it suits us. It works.

"We just need to take that successful first half into the second half.

"We need to really work on that and try to get it sorted."

Smith takes his side to the steel city tonight for a game at arguably League One's most intimidating venue.

And Cuvelier, who netted against Crewe as he continued a second impressive loan spell from Stoke, insists he and his team-mates will relish the challenge of playing at Bramall Lane.

"Sheffield United are a big team and it's a big game for us to play," said the 20-year-old playmaker.

"We need to put Saturday to the back of our minds and be 100 per cent focused for Sheffield United.

"We don't need to go there relaxed. We need to be very focused and do what we do the very best we can. Sheffield United are a big team with a big stadium and a big crowd so it will be a difficult game, but every game in this league is difficult so this is just another challenge for us.

"Every game is massive and important. We need to get results and keep on doing what we're doing and just try to be focused on performing better in the second half of the game."

Cuvelier caught the eye again against Alex but insisted his impressive contribution meant little after the visitors hit back to claim a point.

"I got one assist and one goal so I was happy, but in the end it was 2-2 so it wouldn't have meant as much as a goal and an assist in a win," he said.

"But we just have to focus on tonight now."
