Wolverhampton school dresses up for soup kitchen

A Wolverhampton school has handed over a bumper crop of donations to the Good Shepherd Soup Kitchen after holding a 'dress as a scarecrow' day.

Students at Newbridge Preparatory School in Tettenhall were encouraged to dress up as scarecrows and bring in food to donate to the soup kitchen in Darlington Street.

And the entire school joined in the fun, which saw uniforms replaced with old dungarees, straw hats and check shirts for the day.

Headteacher Sarah Fisher said: "We cannot thank the children and parents enough for their kind and overwhelming harvest gifts.

"The display of food donations from a small, family school such as ours was overwhelming. The collection van from the Good Shepherd was crammed full!"

The Good Shepherd charity provides food and care for poor, homeless and socially isolated people in Wolverhampton, serving hot meals to around 200 people each day.
