'It's becoming ridiculous': Dudley community in shock at third stabbing in eight days

A community has been speaking of its shock after the third stabbing in eight days rocked residents in Dudley.

Police cordoned off Brierley Hill high street over the weekend after a man was knifed to death in broad daylight.

A murder investigation was launched after the victim, a man thought to be aged 24, was stabbed in the stomach on Saturday afternoon.

He was rushed to hospital but died later.

The attack is the third stabbing in eight days in the Dudley borough.

A 22-year-old man was stabbed in Lower Gornal last Saturday before an 18-year-old man was critically injured in a stabbing on Sedgley high street on Sunday.

Three 15-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of assault in relation to the attack in Lower Gornal, whil a 14-year-old boy was charged with wounding with intent after the Sedgley incident.

Residents took to social media to voice their concern over the series of violence attacks.

Roger Taylor wrote on the Express & Star's Facebook page: "When's it all going to end. That's three in the space of a week.

"It's time for the government to come down hard on gun and knife crime make the starting point 10 years for knife and 15 years for gun to many lives are being destroyed."

Christopher Clark said: "It sadly will never end regardless of the punishment."

Karl Michael Bensley said: "It's attacking the root, doing something after the event makes no difference. It does not even deter other people, people should not be so aggressive in the first place."

Another poster, Jayne Dalgliesh, spoke of her shock at the latest attack. "What the hell is going on in the Black Country, that's three stabbings in a week."

Darren Garfield said "Time for parents to pay a bit more attention to their kids. This generation of parents is a joke."

Matthew Fraser-Bodenham added: "Not again! This is becoming ridiculous."

Faye Whitehouse added: "Another this is getting out of hand. This needs to stop."

Meanwhile, an 18-year-old was charged with Section 18 wounding after an alleged stabbing on a bus in West Bromwich on Tuesday.
